Michelle Cohen (Executive Director; Lake Monroe Water Fund)
A Water Fund is a way for downstream water users to invest in conservation activities upstream to protect and restore their watershed. The Lake Monroe Water Fund is the first water fund in Indiana and Midwest. Michelle’s talk will detail the purpose of the Lake Monroe Water Fund and what actions it intends to catalyze in the Lake Monroe watershed.
Jesse Moore (Central Indiana Conservation Land Manager; The Nature Conservancy)
The Nature Conservancy was incorporated in 1951 as a science-based land protection organization in the eastern United States. Since that time, the organization has grown to become the largest environmental NGO globally, with projects in 76 countries. Conservation professionals like Jesse ensure that biodiversity and habitats are conserved through tools like prescribed fire, which will be the key topic of Jesse’s presentation.
