Carbon Concentration Predicts Soil Contamination of Plant Residues

Conservation agricultural systems retain more carbon (C) produced by plants at the soil surface. Estimating C inputs to soil requires both plant biomass production and transformations of plant-produced C into various decomposition states at the soil surface. The objective of this study was to test if a common association occurred between ash and C concentrations among different agricultural plant and soil surface residue components.
