Beyond the Lab Test: Applied Soil Science with Nance Klehm

April 26 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm UTC-5

Applied Soil Science

In this hands-on workshop participants will learn basic physical geology of the area through direct study of rock, mineral and soil samples. Later we leave for the field to do a brief ready practice soil assessment methods of testing composition, structure, permeability and how this helps shape soil ecology.

The workshop will end with a lively discussion of our experiences and findings and next steps to stewarding soils more deeply and intentionally to support their healthy ecology. Participants are asked to bring 2 cups of soil for testing, a paper and pencil for notes and dress prepared to go outside.

Nance Klehm has been an ecological systems designer, landscaper, horticultural consultant, and agroecological grower for more than three decades.
