Join us for a hands-on Soil Health Workshop & Farm Tour at Urbavore Urban Farm! Learn about soil health best-practices and strategies implemented on this 13+ acre urban farm.
URBAVORE is a biologically diverse farmstead set on 13.5 acres in Kansas City’s urban core. Farmers Brooke & Dan are committed to environmental integrity in all aspects of business & personal life. Energy efficient systems for food production, waste, water and shelter redefine sustainability to build community and ecology. Urbavore Urban Farm is also the homesite of their sister business Compost Collective, through which they divert foodwaste from landfills to create nutrient-dense compost to feed their farm’s soil.
Attendees will learn about their no-till method of farming, use of cover-crops & silage tarps, the integration of livestock to improve soil health, the benefits of compost additions, and the integration of perennials into their farm-scape. Attendees will have a chance for some hands-on work to learn about their bed prep methods! Come eager to learn.
