Are you an aspiring, beginning, or experienced farmer/gardener? Are you concerned about lead levels in your soil or just want to learn more about urban farming? Join us on Sat Feb 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM for a day filled with free soil lead screening, soil nutrients testing, a water conservation workshop, and more! The event will be held at Urban Tilth North Richmond Farm where you can meet fellow urban farmers and learn from experts to optimze your urban farming potential!

To participate in the free lead screening and soil nutrients testing, please bring your soil samples according to these instructions:

Step 1: Identify an area of interest for your soil sample.

Step 2: Collect Soil – For a large area, collect soil from 5-10 random spots in that area, and combine in a clean container. For a small area, collect soil from 3 random spots and combine in a clean container. (depth of about 6 inches per spot)

Step 3: Mix soil well in clean container.

Step 4: Remove pebbles, rocks, and roots, and air dry. Do not use a flame, oven or hairdryer to dry the soil!

Step 5: Transfer 1 – 2 cups of the mixed soil into a clean one-quart Ziplock bag
