The objective of the trial was to compare wet soil tolerance of several clovers.
- Arrowleaf Clover (Blackhawk)
- Balansa Clover (Fixation)
- Crimson Clover (Dixie)
- White Clover (Durana)
The clover was no-till planted into bermudagrass in October and November.
Fertilizer P & K, as well as boron, were applied according to soil test recommendations.
There were several sites across Arkansas with moderate to poorly drained soils where the clover was planted.
The clovers were evaluated on their tolerance to wet soils based on canopy height and stand occupancy rates.
Results
Overall the balansa clover outperformed all others varieties with notable success in canopy height.
