SUMMARY:USDA Pollinator Practices Support Pollinator Services in the US
DESCRIPTION:USDA Conservation Efforts Support Pollinators\, Agricultural Production Nationwide\nScientists estimate that one out of every three bites of food we eat exists because of animal pollinators. Supporting pollinators is critical to our food security and a key USDA conservation focus in collaboration with farmers\, ranchers\, and other land managers nationwide. \nOn June 20 at 2:00 p.m. eastern\, Dr. Elissa Olimpi will share findings on the value of pollinator practices applied through voluntary conservation programs including the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program and Conservation Stewardship Program and the Farm Service Agency’s Conservation Reserve Program. This free\, one-hour Conservation Outcomes Webinar will answer a suite of questions addressed in a recent study conducted by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in collaboration with USDA’s Conservation Effects Assessment Project\, including on the effectiveness of these programs in supporting pollinators and strategies to increase benefits. \nFindings may be used by agricultural producers\, other land managers\, conservationists\, and researchers to prioritize conservation efforts that will deliver the greatest benefits to pollinators and production agriculture across the U.S. \nThis virtual webinar will be hosted on Microsoft Teams. No registration is required. \nAccess the webinar shortly before 2:00 p.m. eastern on June 20 by clicking “Join June 20 Webinar\,” below. Users on smartphones may need to download Microsoft Teams in advance. \nYou may also join via audio only: \nPhone Number: 202-650-0123\nPhone Conference ID: 115 459 482# \n\nJOIN JUNE 20 WEBINAR

SUMMARY:Webinar: Economics of Soil Health on Small Grain Farms
DESCRIPTION:How can soil health practices improve profitability and resilience on small grain farms? Register now for a free webinar on the economic and on-farm benefits of soil health management systems found in SHI’s study of 15 farms in the United States and Canada\, supported by General Mills.\nOn Thursday\, June 20\, 2-3 p.m. Eastern\, join SHI Soil Health Educator Ann Marie Calabro for a session covering the findings\, moderated by General Mills Principal Scientist Dr. Steven Rosenzweig. SHI Agricultural Economist Dr. Archie Flanders will join us for a question-and-answer session following the presentation.\nParticipants will receive fact sheets detailing the findings.\n \nRegistration is free but required to attend\, so sign up today!  \nRegister\n \nThe Soil Health Institute is a global non-profit with the mission of safeguarding and enhancing the vitality and productivity of soils through scientific research and advancement. Our vision is a world where farmers and ranchers grow quality food\, fiber\, and fuel using soil health systems that sustain farms and rural communities\, promote a stable climate and clean environment\, and improve human health and well-being. By bringing together leaders in science and industry\, SHI empowers farmers and landowners to adopt soil health systems that contribute economic and environmental benefits to agriculture and society.
