Cover Crop Diversity for Weed Suppression and Crop Yield in a Corn-Soybean Production System in Tennessee

Weed infestation is one of the major agronomic challenges in row-crop production. Weed suppression can be achieved by cover crops (CC) due to several reasons including the amount of CC biomass produced, decreased light availability, allelopathic inhibition, and competition for resources. This study was conducted to determine the multi-year effects of CC species diversity and planting methods on weed suppression and yield in row-crop production systems.
