Soil is the lifeblood of the farm. Healthy soils support plant growth, cycle nutrients, retain moisture, and support a complex web of microorganisms that help plants thrive. Each session in this three part series this spring will focus on different key elements of healthy soils on an urban farm. Participants will gain key insights on how to build their soils for agricultural success.
Crops require different nutrients to thrive. This workshop will highlight the practice of crop rotation. At Village Family Farm, growers and gardeners will learn more about the importance of changing what you grow each season by location to restore nutrients in the soil and see these practices on the farm.
**This event is outdoors on a working farm where you will be surrounded by nature. Ground and terrain may be uneven on the farm. We recommend comfortable shoes, sunscreen and a hat.**
This workshop will take place rain or shine. In cases of extreme weather, we will contact you 24-36 hours prior to the event if we need to cancel.
